How to get the best out of your brand activation & roadshow events!

Thinking one format works everywhere, is a pretty common mistake!

A brand invests in a trailer, a container or a mobile showroom and expects it to perform across every environment from train stations, city centres, sports events, festivals. Same unit, same setup, same expectation, but here's the thing, it rarely works.

Different environments demand different thinking and her's why!

A commuter in a train station maybe has 30 seconds.

A visitor at a public event might give you 10 minutes.

A festival audience wants energy & excitement.

A corporate environment wants clarity.

If you apply the same activation format to all of them, you either overbuild or underdeliver.

The best roadshow strategies are modular

Not one unit, a system.

• Small format for high turnover environments

• Medium format for core engagement

• Larger builds for flagship moments

The goal is not scale, The goal is relevance.

And then there is reality

Logistics, setup time, transport, permits, weather. If your activation cannot move easily, it will not scale, if it cannot adapt it will not perform. If it gets blown away, well, that's a whole other kettle of fish!

Designing for performance, not presence

Looking good is not enough, roadshows are simply mobile events, and like any event, they need to deliver clear outcomes. They need to educate, sell, delight, surprise and create meaningful connection, they need to engage people quickly, encourage participation and capture value through data. And in most cases, simple, gamified and fast interactions will outperform complex builds.

Open question

For those working in roadshows and brand activation teams:

  1. How are you approaching format across different environments?

  2. Are you building one asset or a flexible system?

  3. What has actually worked for you?

At HOWARD&CO, we are an events agency creating and delivering experiences that connect, engage and deliver value at every touchpoint, lets have a call to discuss your next event and brand activation.
