This week, millions of parents became event planners.

The summer holidays are coming to an end and across the world in homes everywhere, a rather impressive operation is underway. New school bags are being bought and filled, pens and pencils found, clothes organised, lunches planned, transport arranged and diaries suddenly becoming important again.

Without necessarily realising it, parents are preparing their own little team for success and this is exactly what is happening in business. People are returning to the office, teams are reconnecting, client conversations are restarting and those projects that went slightly quiet over summer are suddenly back on the agenda. For business owners and entrepreneurs like me, it feels much the same, marketing starts moving again, conversations reopen and, importantly, we return with fresh ideas.

I spent part of my summer travelling, exploring hotels, restaurants and some incredible venues, meeting people and quietly observing what makes certain experiences work so well. Not just because I and my family needed this, its more that sometimes stepping away from your normal environment is exactly what you need to see things differently. And perhaps that's the real opportunity September brings, not simply to go back to doing what we were doing before summer, but to bring people back together, take the best of what we've experienced and create better environments for our teams, clients and businesses to thrive.

So, whether you're packing a school bag or reopening that slightly neglected project plan, here's to a successful new term! And if bringing your team together is part of yours, HOWARD&Co would love to support you in creating the event that will bring your team together, drive positive change and set your team up for success or simply celebrate it.
